Scale selection using three different representations for images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Humans are capable of zooming in on the right range of scale, but it is not clear, yet, whether this processing involves either spatial variables, or two-dimensional spatialfrequency variables, or both spatial and spatial-frequency variables in the image description. The main motivation of this work is to show that at least it is possible in each domain to formulate algorithms giving solutions to this problem of scale selection. We also propose that in situations where no information is available about appropriate scales for analysis, a reasonable approach is to consider descriptions at the spatial scales for active sensors under a data-driven multisensor organization, with the sensors being orientation and spatial-frequency selective. Of course, the sensor scales are de ned as those of patterns with frequency components in the sensor. keyword and phrases:Multisensor organization, active sensors, natural scales, 2D space domain, 2D spatial-feequency domain, Gabor Domain.

Face Recognition in Thermal Images based on Sparse Classifier
Despite recent advances in face recognition systems, they suffer from serious problems because of the extensive types of changes in human face (changes like light, glasses, head tilt, different emotional modes). Each one of these factors can significantly reduce the face recognition accuracy. Several methods have been proposed by researchers to overcome these problems. Nonetheless, in recent ye...
متن کاملEvaluation of gray scale changes of CBCT system images in different axis using the DICOM file
The images of dental CBCT imaging systems used in conic shaped beams, stored in the DICOM format, have various applications in the dentistry, including bone density estimation to select the location of the orthodontic implant, bone loss detection and etc. In these systems, unlike CT imaging systems, the resulting images exhibit gray-scale non-uniformity in each of the different axis in FOV. Thi...
متن کاملGender Classification from Face Images Using Mutual Information and Feature Fusion
In this article we report a new method for gender classification from frontal face images using feature selection based on mutual information and fusion of features extracted from intensity, shape, texture, and from three different spatial scales. We compare the results of three different mutual information measures: minimum redundancy and maximal relevance (mRMR), normalized mutual information...
متن کاملRegion Completion in a Texture using Multiresolution Transforms
Abstract Natural images, textures and photographs are likely to be impaired by stains. As a result a substantial portion of the image remains blurred. However, a method called region completion is adopted to fill in the tainted part by using the information from the portion left unblemished by stains. A novel method to perform this operation is proposed in this paper. The three significant sta...
متن کاملDiagnostic Accuracy of Digitized Images Using Different Resolution Settings of Digital Camera in Detection of Proximal Caries
Objective: When none of digital systems and scanners is accessible and it is essential to have digitized images of conventional radiographs, digital cameras can be used. The Aim of this study was to investigate whether digital images obtained by different resolutions of a digital camera are matched to the original radiographs in evaluation of caries. Methods: In this diagnostic accuracy in v...
